Brief profile of Smt. Mahitha Varma

Smt. Mahitha Varma is an upcoming Carnatic Music performer from Kerala, India. She started learning music at the age of 11 from Kommathil Janaki  and later pursued her training under her aunt Dr Jalaja Varma. Currently Smt Mahitha Varma is undergoing her higher studies in Carnatic music under veteran and renowned musician  of Kerala Shri Mangad K. Natesan.

She did her post graduation in Music with first rank from University of Calicut in the year 2000, after qualifying the NET Examination conducted by UGC. In 2002, she joined Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady as Guest- Lecturer in music.

In 2007, she accompanied her husband Shri M.S. Parameswarar to Mauritius, who was then the Carnatic vocal teacher at the  Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Indian Cultural Centre, Mauritius. Both of them have presented many successful concerts in Mauritius. In 2010, she again joined University of Calicut as Guest-Lecturer. Currently she is teaching Carnatic Vocal at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Indian Cultural Centre, Kuala Lumpur.

She is a graded artist in both classical and light music with All India Radio Thrissur. She has also presented many light and classical concerts for Doordarshan, Asianet and  Jeevan etc.  
Since October 2010 , she has started training students and given several performances in Kuala Lumpur and nearby places. She also gives outreach classes at Temple of Fine Arts and Swami Vivekanda Tamil School in Brickfields.

At present she is training more than 150 students in Carnatic music and Veena in Malaysia. She also sings Hindi Bhajans.
